Ciao a tutti!
As promised, today I'm sharing one of the inspiring journeys of my clients who successfully obtained Italian citizenship by descent in Italy.
Before we dive in, a quick note to my other amazing clients: if your story hasn't been featured yet, don’t worry! Every journey is important and unique, and I look forward to sharing yours soon.
So, let’s get started...
Now, let’s talk about Rachel — the newest Italian citizen recognized through Buonvento.
APPLYING FOR ITALIAN CITIZENSHIP IN ITALY: RACHEL’S JOURNEY WITH BUONVENTO
Rachel discovered Buonvento during a livestream by Fabio Barbiero — the creator of 'Minha Saga Blog' and my mentor in the world of Italian citizenship. In that broadcast, Fabio kindly mentioned several consultants he had trained, including me. That was when Rachel decided to reach out and as she said in her video interview (below), “I felt so confident that I didn’t even want to talk to anyone else!”.
Our first interaction might have been digital, but soon we discovered a personal connection: Rachel had lived in the same city where my brother and nephews live — a place very dear to my heart!
DOCUMENTO REVIEW & A KEY LEGAL DETAIL
From the start, Rachel approached the process with calm, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. She was incredibly understanding when I pointed out a few necessary corrections in her documents, and she quickly grasped how critical every detail is in the Italian citizenship application process.
A crucial moment came when we discovered that her great-grandfather, Mr. Anselmo (born in Padova), had become a naturalized citizen. Many people assume that naturalization ends the transmission of Italian citizenship. But this only happens if naturalization occurs before the birth of the descendant. Fortunately, in Mr. Anselmo’s case, his son was already born — which meant Rachel’s right to Italian citizenship remained intact.
LIFE IN ITALY DURING THE ITALIAN CITIZENSHIP PROCESS
Rachel’s positive energy was evident even before her arrival in Italy — and it only grew stronger once she got here. Over the 76 days it took to complete her italian citizenship application process, she embraced the journey fully.

She explored the region’s beautiful waterfalls, indulged in plenty of gelato, pizza, and pasta, and kept her adventurous spirit alive. Having already backpacked solo through South America, she brought that same energy with her to Italy. (Thank you, Rachel, for the amazing stories from Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia!). After the visit from the vigile and the confirmation of her residency, she took the opportunity to travel within Italy and around Europe. One highlight? A trip to Norway — a country she’s now considering as her new home after getting italian citizenship.
Rachel’s journey is proof that a positive attitude and good preparation make a huge difference. I always say: positive thoughts attract positive results — and she lived that philosophy every day!
So, we recorded a short interview (watch below with english subtitles), where Rachel shares what the experience meant to her, how she handled the waiting period, and what comes next in her new life as an Italian citizen...
Grazie Signorina!
THANK YOU RACHEL: THE NEWEST ITALIAN CITIZEN!
Rachel, thank you again for your trust and for being part of this journey. I truly appreciated your calm presence and the uplifting energy you brought into every moment. And thank you for making the interview so easy — I get a bit nervous on camera, but you made it a pleasure!
May your Italian passport open many doors and bring exciting new opportunities, wherever life takes you — in Italy, Brazil, Norway, or beyond!
